API was founded in 1956 as a small, privately owned Central Station alarm company.

As our subscriber base and service areas increased, our name was changed to IBA Protection Services to better identify us as a full service Central Station alarm company, providing commercial and institutional security services to businesses, as well as public and private agencies in three Southern California counties.

We continue to provide security services to subscribers who have remained in service with API for more than 40 years.

In June, 2004 we officially became American Protection Industries, Inc., a California corporation. Our core business is the design, specification, installation and monitoring of a wide array of high-technology systems, including intrusion alarm, access control (HID Prox) and photo ID badging, and integrated digital CCTV with full LAN/WAN functionality.

We have designed and installed security systems for county agencies, such as the Metropolitan Water District, the Los Angeles Department of Airports, the US Postal Service, City of Lawndale City Hall & Civic Center, and numerous others.
We are especially qualified and expert in the highly specialized areas of intrusion alarm systems which fully integrate with digital CCTV systems for second-technology verification of alarm system activations.
